Beyond Likes & Followers: The Power of Influencer Marketing

FICCI members came together for the “Engage, Influence, and Succeed: Navigating the New Marketing Era” event on May 23, 2024. The event began with Ms. Ace Gapuz, CEO of Blogapalooza, who served as a moderator and speaker and guided attendees through the complexities of the modern marketing world with influencers being the center. They expertly charted a course highlighting crucial trends and future-proof strategies to ensure businesses stay competitive.


She explored the potential of various social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, defining important parameters for measuring influencer performance on each. She also stressed that influencer marketing is one of the best strategies for driving company growth, which is crucial given the rising cost of traditional marketing and advertising, and the tightening of marketing budgets.


Even more interesting opportunities lie ahead for influencer marketing, as Ms. Gapuz foresaw a spike in AI integration that would streamline everything from content assessment and metric tracking to influencer outreach and engagement.


A lively panel discussion with three influencers—Ms. Ching, a mom influencer who shared her experiences as a mother of four; Ms. Helen Payawal, a beauty influencer who promoted body positivity and created beauty tutorials; and Ms. Aduke Ogunsanya, an athlete who recently started content creation and shares her life as a professional volleyball player of Choco Mucho Flying Titans—brought the evening to life. These influencers offered their thoughts on how they market themselves, engage with their followers, create interesting content, and act as intermediaries for brands and their target audiences. During the interactive session, there was a lively exchange of questions. The attendees were keen on getting advice on how to leverage using influencers and collaborate with them in establishing a better return in their marketing efforts.


The event concluded with a resounding light-bulb moment for all our participants as they walked away with tools and strategies they could use for their businesses to engage with their existing clients and grow with new customers.
